If you look into the context of all this he was extremely unlucky. His time at PSV just happened to coincide with the Ajax CL winning dream team, and once he left Ajax sold off most of their stars.

At Barca there's not much more he could have done, Real we're too good that year. The following season they finished about 15 worse off but won the title because Real dropped off massively and finished 4th on 63 points, 29 points less than in Ronaldo's season.

At Inter he carried them on his own all season, and only refball stopped them from winning over a dominant Juve. And they improved because they were a totally different side to the one he played in, they spent a lot of money during the early 2000s.

At Real the whole team became a mess, you can't really pin it on him, and those 2 years they won the league Barca were in a transition period.
