I thought Ugonoh would edge a decision before the fight. The intensity surprised me. Ugonoh won the first 2 rounds and at that point I thought he'd get a KO around round 6 as he was putting in some solid shots. Then the knockdown happened which changed everything. In round 4 he used up all his energy trying to get the KO and was gassed by round 5. The biggest thing I take from it is that people underestimated Breazeale who is a big man and when 2 lumps start throwing anything can happen.

Breazeale will be a step up for Wilder. Wilder tried to box last night, using the left jab to protect his right hand.. and he was arguably down 3-1 on the scorecard going into round 5. The difference was in the movement, which as a 40 year old man he obviously wasn't able to keep up with. Fury had the speed with his feet to dance in and out of range which klitschko couldn't follow, since if he did the lack of speed would have seen him get caught more often than not so he stayed on the defensive and waited for openings which never came.

Deontay Wilder must be the most protected heavyweight title holder of all time. He could fight Stiverne and Breazeale now and not have to take a meaningful fight until summer 2018.

Joshua isn't unproven. He's beat Whyte who is around 10th in the world and 6'7 Breazeale who just beat a real athletic prospect from Parker's stable. Joshua has 20 lbs more muscle on his legs than Wilder, he can generate power without throwing his whole body into it because of that. At 250 lbs with the hand speed he has he's one of the most dangerous punchers in the division. He could lose to Klitschko and this would still be true.

I don't blame Wilder for not fighting Povetkin when he tested positive right before the fight, that's not ducking. I blame him for fighting Szpilka, Arreola, Washington.
