Promoters refusing to work together, cable tv contracts, outrageous money demands, etc. demolish any chance of fights that should be made. As a fan of both mma and boxing, I've always had an affinity towards boxing and have always felt events just felt bigger, better, and more exciting. The best of mma is nowhere near the best of boxing.

Overall, I think younger sports fans all gravitate toward football and basketball because there's just so much more content out there and more money thrown to getting fans eyeballs on it whereas both mma and boxing fail in advertising outside of people who are going out of their way to see it.
