I think a lot of it still comes down to cumulative punches in and out of the ring. Chavez Sr. didn't like training any more than his son and his team kept him really busy, but he wasn't sparring much. Foreman had few career rounds relatively speaking and his sparring partners on film look hilariously overmatched.

Ali and Roach on the other hand were in tons of gym wars. Toney sparred as a substitute for roadwork and Jones Jr. said he put in more rounds in the gym than any other fighter he knew of.

I thought this was a very good fight, and a surprisingly good card. This is the second Mayweather Promotions card this year that's had some great matchmaking, despite not being on the same scale as Jack vs. DeGale, for what it was it was a good event and a fun night of boxing.

I think you can score the fight either way, any card between 97-93 for either guy seems like an acceptable score. I had it 95-95 but still felt Broner did just a fraction better. I think those check left hooks and inside uppercuts won him the fight. It's a shame Granados doesn't really have any snap in his punches, he got into Broner a lot, but there wasn't too much visible pay off, Broner never seemed hurt and only ever really backed up on his own accord.

Surprised the Avanesyan vs. Peterson fight was entertaining. Both Broner/Peterson's wins seem to set them up for B-side slots on bigger promotions. If it ever needed further evidence though, it's clear Broner is not going to be an elite Welterweight. Shouldn't be going life and death with a guy like Granados.

It didn't used to, but now it increasingly encroaches on coverage that could be going to better male boxers instead. It's tougher and takes more skill to broach the top 100 as a man than it does to be #1 as a woman, yet you're magnitudes less likely to get any decent coverage. I already mentioned how amateur boxing had to get rid of an entire weight class to make space for women's boxing in the Olympics, and now you have exhibition bouts featuring Taylor, Adams and Shields taking up precious time on televised pro boxing cards, even PPVs sometimes. I just don't want boxing to go down the route MMA did. If I was an MMA fan I'd be seriously pissed at the amount of time wasted on WMMA
