While he was getting his ass stomped by Atlanta's defense in the first two quarters he was watching and learning. By the third they had shown him everything they had. In the fourth he threw for 250+ yards.

Aaron Rodgers got his ass stomped in the first two quarters and came out throwing temper tantrums and grabbing defensive player's helmets.
>>
>>74273938
the Rodgers had a much better first half marred by poorer luck and a great if not nearly as great 2nd half while his receivers were dropping passes (~4 in the 2nd half iirc) and his defense was unable to get a stop until the final 2 minutes of the game

it's fine to respect what Brady and the Patriots did but there is no reason to make these dishonest comparisons.

Brady and Rodgers had the same issue in the first half, dropped balls, OL collasping, zero run game ( BLOUNTFAGS BTFO) and a shitty DC unable to coordinate stops.

Brady played great outside the second quarter, anyone who denies this is a assmad falcuck fan.
>>
>>74274307
yes outside of the Pick six he just wasn't given much to work with

as for the poor luck I'm speaking of would be a missed 41 yard field goal (didnt gost make 2 of those?), a touchback fumble by rip (blount had one but only at midfield I think) Rodgers also traded that picksix for an arm punt that puts the packers actual punter to shame.

those who say Rodgers played poorly are casuals and revisionists

Could also be due to the fact that they draft a guy, then change the system and entire staff/FO the following year.

"Well, you didn't make the playoffs in year 2 with a roster full of literallly who's and one decent player, you're fired."

>>
>>74289655
Once the QB is a runner, he's fair game. Look at Cam. Guys have no problem laying him out when he starts running.

>>

I understand but it's the championship game and matts not really known for just taking off as much as he's known for passing. Im sure the guys on defense got confused once he took off running towards the endzone. Its one thing if you expect a guy to take off running like Cam, it's another if you're not really expecting it. Thats just my guess though.
>>
>>74289750
You're probably right. Look at the 2nd Jets/Pats game last year. Brady took off in front of someone who had the ball(I forget) and it looked like Brady had an invisible shield around him with the way the Jets defenders were acting.

More of a defensive coaching opportunity than anything. I expect better from a team like the Packers.
>>
>>74289748
That QB running only works well when it's rare and unexpected.
>>
>>74289912
Im sure its also got a lot to do with players not wanting to pull a flag for accidentally hitting a quarterback incorrectly.
>You try to tackle him around the waist

>you earhole him

>>
>>74289981

28-3 has to top >18-1 by now.
All the Falcons needed was ONE point in twenty-three minutes to ice the game even as Brady was storming back, and they couldn't even kick a damn field goal with one of the league's best kickers at the ready.
Then the OT coin toss didn't even matter, all they needed to do was force a FG or nothing and they'd have the ball back to try for the win, and they couldn't do that either. It just cements Matt Ryan's status as a choke artist, and Kyle Shanahan as a Dom Capers-tier playcaller.
I said it before the game on a another forum, and I'll say it again: Matt Ryan is soft where Brady is battle-hardened. He just can't handle the big moments.

http://www.cincyjungle.com/2013/6/1/4387228/the-1988-cincinnati-bengals-re-visiting-the-stanley-wilson-incident

>In the 1985 and 1987 seasons, Wilson was suspended for cocaine use by the league. The Brown family, ever-forgiving of players with inner demons, continued to give Wilson a chance and he seized an opportunity going into the 1988 season.

>On the eve of Super Bowl XXIII, Wilson had a relapse into his cocaine use and was not allowed to play in the big game. Aside from his in-game contributions, the disappointment and frustration felt by the other players that Wilson selfishly let down had to have had an affect on the outcome of a Bengals loss to the 49ers, 20-16.

>Unfortunately, the story of Wilson's post-football life doesn't get any better, either. He had multiple stints in rehab to kick the cocaine habit to no avail, and in 1999, Wilson was convicted of stealing $130,000 from a Beverly Hills property and was subsequently sentenced to 22 years in a state prison. The only bright spot to Wilson's life was his son getting a shot in the NFL with the Detroit Lions back in 2005.

hopefully improve, finally becomes fully healthy. BUT will also draw a bunch of fouls on HEAVY hits.
>>
>>74294853
good blocker, smart, he is a big rb height wise, not the fastest but has good vision and can lower the pads. He is a good option of Philly with Sproles on 3rd downs. He can mesh with Wentz pretty good. East coast raider fan here, ok with him going away since oak needs a faster rb and they brought in 2 last year. He is way better than Matthews that's for sure.
>>
>>74294853
>>74295395
adding on with another thought, if Philly gets him, and they can get him for a good price too, they can draft a WR like Williams or Davis and bring back djax for a good core around Wentz to work with. Raiders fan living outside Philly seeing Wentz have not much to work with on offense.

price is the key i think. i love the pass blocking aspect and i like that he's a pass catcher, but he is 27 and it is a fantastic RB draft. if he were to sign for a reasonable amount and we find a trade partner for sproles i'm all for it. glad wentz is getting involved in the offseason stuff.

can you tell me a little about dj hayden? he might get looks from the eagles since he's relatively young and we have no CB depth

REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE THE EAGLES WILL NOT DRAFT A WIDE RECIEVER WE NEED TO DRAFT A FUCKING CORNERBACK
A wide reciever is far from a sure thing, every draft isn't 2014 and they wont fucking explode on the scene and be an instant difference maker
the eagles need to draft a corner in the first round
maybe draft like fucking 3 of them
they have had shit corners for so fucking long now it is embarassing
they can make the offense work, just get some motherfuckers who can cover the opposing wide recievers
>>
>>74296988
rookie corners struggle as much as wide receivers, if not more so

that being said I think the eagles should actually make a push for Alshon or someone, i think getting a weapon for wentz is top priority and you want someone semi proven.

This draft is deep at defensive back, I wouldn't rule out anyone really though at 15
>>
>>74296988
them eagles recievers cannot catch to save their ass tho. I agree getting a db would bolster that defense. I just think Mike Williams and djax could really give Wentz weapons to work with and keep drives going. That defense is better than people realize with Jim Schwartz
>>
>>74297185
>>74297199
they can easily get a db in the second round since not all of them will be taken in the first. There is a lot of dbs in this draft. and i agree on getting alshon would be nice addition!
-east coast raiders fan
>>
>>74296988
counterpoint: the CB class is much deeper than the WR class, and we have 4 picks in rounds 2-4. my opinion on williams and davis isn't that high, especially after davis won't be running at the combine, but there is a clear gap between the top 3 WR prospects and the next guys, whereas in the CB class you have 5-7 players who you can make an argument for drafting in the first or second round.

personally, i'd like alshon jeffrey in free agency to simplify the decision in round 1, but even then i don't think DB is a MUST at pick 14, especially not if someone like dalvin cook falls.
>>
>>74296807
Silence, you fool
>>
>>74297199
It doesn't matter if the receivers aren't fucking good, we can make them good and scheme them good and or sign other guys without overpaying for a problematic meme like Jeffrey who wants dez Bryant money even after getting exposed for sticking needles in his bum
The weakest point on the team by far is cornerback
The offense can run through the tight ends and RBS first, the eagles targeted Tight ends more than any other team in the league last year, and targeted receivers less than any team in the league last year, and was the only team to have less than 50% of passing plays targeting a wide receiver
>>
>>74297381
eagles don't really have any great weapons at running back or tight end either though

Sproles shouldn't be the thing defenses fear the most, as much I like sproles.
>>
>>74297381
>The offense can run through the tight ends and RBS first, the eagles targeted Tight ends more than any other team in the league last year, and targeted receivers less than any team in the league last year, and was the only team to have less than 50% of passing plays targeting a wide receiver
you, uh, know that that's a bad thing right? our WR group is the worst in the league, and with a 2nd year QB we can't just rely on "mak[ing] them good and schem[ing] them good". we need actual talent at that premier position. jeffrey isn't going to cost dez byrant money, that's fucking retarded.

cornerback is indeed a position of weakness on the defense, but it is also a position we could look to shore up in free agency with logan ryan or stephon gilmore or someone. even if not, the draft is absolutely filled with CBs like tre'davious white, cordrea tankersley, gareon conley, quincy wilson, and others who may not go 1st round but are exceptionally talented.

regardless of what happens or needs to happen on the defense, we need to give wentz weapons. ertz is inconsistent, sproles is old and the other RBs are terrible, and our #1 WR would be much better served as a randall cobb-type #2. wentz's growth will be severely stunted if our offense remains mostly the same as it did last year.
>>
>>74297381
>we can make them good
they targeted their TEs more because Celek and Ertz are reliable and outside J. Matthews and giving Green-Beckham another year to fully mesh with Wentz. Agholor is straight up garbage. They can add a db in the second round and still pick up weapons for Wentz to keep him on the field to make plays and keep drives going, which they were not good last year at. Build with Wentz in mind the defense will get better, they can be a sleeper team next year imo.

he's kind of small, only 5'11" and 175 pounds. i'd put him in my personal top 5, but zay jones is one of those guys that people expect to rise a lot before the draft, especially if he tears up the combine.

gotta love that oklahoma offense though. westbrook, perine, mixon, even mayfield would be a top pick if he had declared.

So there's probably going to be a team next year that somehow makes it to the playoffs or the super bowl that absolutely nobody expects

Who's it gonna be?

>2016: nobody expects Dak and the Cowboys, the Dolphins to make the playoffs, or for Matt Ryan to win MVP and the Falcons to have the season they did
>2015: nobody expects Kirk Cousins to emerge on the Redskins and the Panthers to go 15-1 and make it to the owl

>Browns
>Bengals
>Dolphins
>Bills
>Iggles
>Gnats
>Burrs
>Bucs
>Rams
>Chargers
>Titans
>Colts
>Jets

who's it gonna be?

What will be the biggest surprise of next season?
>>
>>74299584
It will NOT be the Chargers, I can tell you that much.

It better fucking not be.

AFC teams in the Owl are pretty predictable: Pats, Stoolers, Broncucks year in and out.

I think the Packers might make it to the Owl and the Titans might be a surprise team.
>>
>>74299584

>>74299690 is right, it's usually an NFC team.

I feel like I'm saying it year in and year out, but I like what the Rams have. A coaching change might be just what they needed.
I like what the Bucs have done as well. That division's never had a consistent power at the top and Atlanta overachieved a bit.
Maybe the Eagles as well after a year of Wentz progress, they looked halfway decent the first half of last year.

2017: Carr wins a playoff game
>>
>>74299875
what exactly do the rams "have" other than aaron donald and todd gurley? their best WR is 5'8", they have a terrible TE group and a below average offensive line, and their secondary is losing their best corner in FA, again. even if goff isn't as bad as he's looked, he's not going to be able to do much with that steaming pile of crap.

most reasonable picks are probably the bucs or titans. both young teams who just missed out last season in division with a lot of turnover. if the texans don't improve at QB and the falcons have a SB hangover, they could both do it.

They are admittedly not a team I've watched a lot of, but it seems like a statistical anomaly just how ineffective Gurley was last year. I think he's due for a big year just by sheer return to the mean.

That Goff trade was really, really stupid though.
>>
>>74300000
>>
>>74300024
problem isn't gurley, it's that their passing offense is so ludicrously terrible that defenses can just put 7 or 8 men in the box. they overpaid tavon austin for some reason and goff looked like crap last year, when he wasn't getting sacked.

people have been trying to pump up the rams for fucking years now, and they're just not ready. you can't have 3-4 above average players on your entire team and expect to contend
>>
>>74300151
That's true I guess, but Gurley and Donald are such fantastic talents. How fucking hard can it be to find a bunch of average fucking players around them?

The official eagles dream offseaon
Cut / trade to free up space: mychal Kendricks, (probably will got to new england), Ryan Mathews, and approach Connor barwin to take a pay cut I will hate to see him go, easily the best overall person in the NFL
Unload dgb and probably put Paul Turner back to practice squad
Sign Adam thielin and Stephon Gilmore
Draft: Jalen Tabor, Christian McCaffrey, Cooper Cupp r 1 2 3
Jeremy Clark round 7, and maybe a Dt if we can't retain. Bennie Logan I hope we retain him
Odds are none of this happen, none of the people I want in the 1st will be there (fournette or Tabor, fuck a we) and cupp will go mid 2nd McCaffrey mid 1st
>>
>>74300804
barwin is gone. single highest cap hit of anyone we can realistically cut

thielen isn't worth using our limited cap space.
>>
>>74281169
It was awesome when he hurt Ben bell and brown what a bad ass nigga
>>
>>74300437
The rumor is Jimmy Graham. I heard someone speculating Richard Sherman, but that sounded like BS.
>>
>>74300870
His price will be low (thielen) he's RFA so it depends how much the vikes want to keep him

Also kelce is more than likely a cut/trade probably cut
Barwin has trade value at least teams like the Ravens would want him
Although I don't want him to end up in that big city, he's too good for them
>>
>>74300804
>Kendricks
>Mathews
>Barwin

I can live with losing Mathews and Kendricks but i love Barwin. Hes a cool dude but its business. If we can clear enough space for Jeffrey, thatd be fantastic. The draft is all dependant on how FA goes
>>
>>74300978
why would any team trade for barwin at his current contract when we're just gonna cut him tho. i like thielen but he is absolutely not the kind of signing i want to see the eagles make. if kelce/peters are willing to restructure that's a must as well.

ideally, we sign someone like alshon, or least stills or garcon, and a cornerback. i'm leaning towards logan ryan or gilmore as the best in our price range. barwin and mathews have to be cut, and kendricks either restructured or traded. something that may not sit well with people but isn't a bad idea to consider is trading sproles as well; he's 33 and his cap hit is 4 million this offseason. if he's the difference between us signing alshon or resigning bennie logan, so be it.
