honestly ive been thinking for years MLS has needed to be more entrenched in social media game broadcasts, if you could watch MLS games from an internet link or twitter/facebook event the popularity would skyrocket.


I do think MLS is doing the right thing though, the league will grow its social media presence and really reach out to computer/internet users because the majority of their fanbase and future generations are geared towards that kind of stuff

Realistically, how big can the mls get? What is the maximum number of teams before its too big? It almost seems as if they will be forced to have promotion/relegation with how many cities are trying to get in.

by 2030, I imagine there will be 30-34 teams. 40 would probably be the max before a system like pro/rel would be needed.

I think the size will directly correspond to how popular the league becomes. among US professional sports leagues, MLS is still in 5th place. it will be interesting to see if younger millennials and Generation Z gravitate towards soccer more as apposed to the traditional American sports like baseball and football.
