trying to say that while I said earlier that the giants are a shit concept because I feel it's based off the new york giants that's just because I don't understand what it is a "giant" is supposed to mean, it's a bit of a nothing term and for me represents the american professional sporting spirit of "let's make a new random team, give it some meaningless name and people will go and watch matches by the droves regardless lol". Although the AFL is creating these teams out of thin air with a similar objective I'd like to see them try to give it some local flavour, but that doesn't necessarily have to be le epin australian animals like the quokka or the lyrebird. the suns I'll admit are appropriate for the gold coast but the giants just have no relevance to GWS in my mind. even the GWS sheikhs would be more appropriate imo, at least it correctly identifies all the shitskins in the west and gives it some character
though if the mascot of the giants have some history or meaning outside of one team let me know, can't see the logic behind a giant.

I agree with you about the 'giants' being poorly thought out.
I agree the "suns" suits the area and the team.
I also agree the quokka or lyrebird aren't fit to represent an AFL team but Australia does have local flavour options that do fit. Like the devils for Tassie, other options have all been said before like sharks and cyclones etc..
so many better options than naming the next team the lakers or the patriots.
