It's because in American football, the coin toss decides who gets to attack first and since it's SUDDEN DEATH, whoever scores first wins.

This is basically if FIFA brought back golden goal but also said the team who won the coin toss is the only one allowed to attack and the other team can only defend.

I really think about this thread every day. Every time I see Javi Martinez, every time I think about pizza hut, every time somebody wants to go to a carvery, every time a seagull flies by me, every time I see someone dabbing, every time somebody mentions 100 million, every time somebody is walking towards the camera, every time I talk to customer support, every time I see a slippery surface sign.

Holy shit. It's a part of me now. This thread is carving into my consciousness, and is dabbing towards my brain. Of course, *wins the league* flippy.jpg and a >moyes. I don't know what to do anymore. I wake up in the middle of the night and immediately yell EXPOSED! I just can't help it. Every dream I can remember for the past 6 months has had to do with this fucking thread. Even if it's just the faintest sound of the walking. Oh my God. Please save me. Somebody. I can't take it. My life is *walking towards it's end*.

I really am starting to think I need mental help. I've also started going to the local carvery lately and not until reading my own thoughts did I realize it's probably because of this thread. I browse /epl/ for around 5 hours every day and the amount of time's I've posted here in the past week is more times than I've thought of my family, friends or parents. To those who are new don't come here, and don't get into it. I posted "Any updates on the Javi Martinez to Liverpool situation?" at least once a week for a year, and it has actually addled my brain. The sound of a seagull alone sends me into fits of uncontrollable laughter.

Silva, if he manages to keep Hull in the league. Pullis is doing well too. Also Poch got a ridiculous low netspend and would deserve it too if he manages to stay second and not fall back again. League title with Chelsea or one of the Manchester clubs is just special enough to deserve the plaudits, for that Conte should've won some cups too.

>steamrolling the league
>while actually playing really nice, fun to watch, football
So just like 2014-15? Chelsea ended up 10th because they wanted to avoid EL and their players had a hissy fit before, not because they lacked the quality.

>>74113266
Everton had a similar position before a season before too. Being 6 is nothing impressive for their budget/squad quality, it's United that's underperforming and Liverpool that are overperforming a bit.

Let me start by saying that I don't like Flop nor Liverpoodle but given the squad, he's actually doing a decent fucking job. Expensive team yes, but lets not pretend City haven't been lazy and horrible the past seasons, the CL semi they stumbled into was a disgrace

I don't know why everyone talks as if he hasn't improved them, they've created all sorts of chances and should've absolutely steamrolled their way through several matches. Some of the chances Aguero/De Bruyne and Sterling have missed are jaw dropping
Stones has been the MOTM for the opposing side several times
As far as Hart is concerned, I'm certain it was an issue of Hart causing divide in the locker room like Yaya, Mancini and Pellegrini had problems with Hart but were too scared to be blunt with England's golden boy
Genuinely don't understand how anyone who has watched City consistently can claim they're not better, with several key players past their prime like Silva

Not counting extraordinary situations like at Chelsea last season or perhaps Lestah now, you usually don't have to motivate the players to play their normal game. It comes into play in case of Simeone or Ranieri last season, who made their players play much better than sum of their parts. It's given that Chelsea players wouldn't throw a fit at a new coach from the start, so Conte had a clean slate. Did he made them overachieve? Clearly not, at least for now. If he wins the treble next season, he's definitely fucking great though.
>>
>>74114019
>Luckily, motivating your players and not letting them do shit like that isn't manager's job at all, is it
It obviously goes both way. People just like to point at mouyes as the sole reason for their failure that season
>>
>>74114127
>They want CL tho...
So does everyone , I imagine
>extraordinary situations
Why should it be considered extraordinary, besides >mouyes' extraordinary failure in man management? You encounter dips in form, ego clashes and low morale regulary as a manager, letting it progress into full-blown mutiny and >mouyes' mental breakdown is something else. Current Lester is a different case, Ranieri himself said that the goal for the season after title-winning season is staying up, he's aware of the actual squad quality. People fail to recognize what a spectacular achievemnt their league title was and expecting anything similiar again is just silly.
>>
>>74114019
>Luckily, motivating your players and not letting them do shit like that isn't manager's job at all, is it
it's not a good sight for the club. it's not the first time Chelsea players pull one like this, in fact it seems it's part of the club's institutionalized culture.
I'm not sure the fans like to see it happen.

That's exactly the point, the same 170 million could have been invested far, far more effectivelly. this is a goal with bravo, right?
>>
Who would you rather miss top 4, Arsenal or Liverslips?
>>
>>74123879
Scousers errytime
>>
Do you think it would be good if we had one kit supplier for the whole league? That way we could distribute money according to league placement, instead of how 'big' a club is.
>>
>>74123879
Liverslip because if Arsenal slip it's over for Wenger.
>>
>>74123879
arsenal and man utd. hate the liverpool fans though with a passion
>>
>>74123879
Probably Liverpool but I really want Arsenal to miss top 4 just for a bit of variety.
>>
>>74123879
top 4 is for clubs with windows
>>
>>74123886
The genie is out of the bottle as far as financial caps are concerned
>>
>>74123822
If anything that shows how good of of a job he has done
>>
>>74123486
I thought only scouse delusion was allowed on this board
>>
>>74123879
If arsenal miss top 4 Wenger is out and then they might actually start challenging. If Liverpoop make top 4 they will NEVER stop going on about it.
>>
>>74123898
It's not a cap, it's deals negotiated collectively. You think it would be a bad thing? Why so?
>>
>>74123901
tbf red imps would be a top 5 spl team if they were scottish.
Scottish football used to actually be pretty decent.
it's incredibly shite standard nowadays.
>>
>>74123822
Reminder that Poop literally couldn't beat this Leltic team.
Reminder that Brenny was the very first to expose Poop this season.
>>
>>74123886
as long as it's something wavy like Fila
>>
>>74123911
>it's incredibly shite standard nowadays.
As is every league outside the top 4. Really makes you think.
>>
>>74123902
Which part is deluded? Not a single Scottish side has threatened them.

>>74123911
What a retarded post
>>
>>74123911
Celtic fans really believe winning the SPL is a big achievement
>>
>>74123909
I'm saying why in the fuck would United agree to share the 700 septillion a year they get from Adidas/Chevy with Burnley. Collective deals severely weaken the strongest clubs' position
>>
>>74123926
Nah we view it as the bare minimum
>>
>>74123924
how is it retarded?
Scottish football is on it's knees. Celtic's squad is infinitely better and bigger than anyone elses, and if they didn't win the league every season for the next 10 to 15 seasons it would be a massive underachievement, because nobody will have the spending power of them and no more money is going to go into the league because they don't get tv money like the big leagues in europe.
>>
>>74123923
not really.
>>
>>74123936
>agree
What's that got to do with it.

Do you think there would be less or more money overall if there was a collective kit deal? With the TV rights, selling together makes the total amount go up.

Yes they are, utter shit league strength and just there for the relevant teams to farm.
>>
>>74123951
Red imps would not even be a Premier league team, let alone top 5.
>>
Chelsea have played 3 of their Top 6 matches already this half of the season.
>>
>>74122815
Man City 1938.
>>
>>74123965
>every league outside the top 4.
are you talking about every league in Europe there is? or just every top division?
>>74123970
wouldn't be far off, goes to show Scottish premier league standards
>>
>>74123960
Because currently there is no collective kit deal. For it to be there, the EPL has to agree on it, right? And the EPL is effectively run by the top 6
Imagine you're a player sponsor. You want to sponsor Cristiano Ronaldo for $10 million a year, plus a couple lesser star players for a total of 15 million. Now someone comes to you and says you need to also sponsor Joey Barton, Joe Allen and a bunch of other nobodies which will make you pay more total. Which deal do you prefer?
>>
>>74123977
arsenal - top...
>>
>>74123982
Top division obviously. There are good teams all plotted about but there league strength as a whole is embarassing.
>>
>>74123960
>What's that got to do with it.
Everything. You try to push United they go and talk to Real Madrid/PSG/Etc and bring up the whole european superleague again.
>>
>>74124002
and yet in scotland there is literally one decent team
>>
>>74124015
So you're agreeing with me now. Get it together you window licker, kek.
>>
>>74123879
scouse
>>
>>74123998
You're being practical, I just want to look at the deal in itself.

Two things:
1. Man Utd are the ones being sponsored, not the ones sponsoring
2. They managed to push through collective bargaining for TV rights in Spain. Didn't the same thing happen in your country? Maybe in Italy or Spain or Germany, where the differences between top and bottom are so great, this could be pushed through.
>>
>>74123879
Liverslips. Wenger will gone if he miss top 4, i don't want that
>>
>>74106954
Don't have an emotional investment in the team since we're an ocean away I figure.
>>
>>74124011
It doesn't say what the effects of it being implemented would be. Real Madrid and Barcelona could went and talked to the other European giants when the TV strike was happening in Spain but they didn't.
>>
>>74124024
nope. im saying the gulf in class between a mediocre leltic and the rest of the league is why scottish footy is so shite. if it wasn't connected to England nobody would ever talk about it.
>>
>>74123879
>implying either will this season

I'm well aware United are being sponsored, what I'm saying is the top 6 are one side of this deal and the other is the sponsors and neither wants this
As to La Liga, the distribution is much better but still a bit shit. Only 50% of the money is equally spread, the other is merit + resources based meaning the top club still makes 3x more than the bottom
>>
What would happen if Tottenham won the EL and finished top 3? What would happen to the extra CL spot?

I know this is an uncertain scenario, but I'm kind of curious to see HOW UEFA would handle it.
>>
>>74124117
a country is allowed 5 cl spots
>>
>>74124064
>As to La Liga, the distribution is much better but still a bit shit. Only 50% of the money is equally spread, the other is merit + resources based meaning the top club still makes 3x more than the bottom
So the distribution of the collective kit deal would be a bit shit too? It would still be a bit more balanced though, wouldn't it?
>>
>>74124117
Nothing
>>
>>74124117
there are rules established. in this case tottenham would get a CL spot.
>>
>>74124131
Yes in theory it would but it won't happen in a million years
>>
>>74124117
Nothing?
>>
>>74124117
>What would happen to the extra CL spot?
Nothing. There would be a bit of shift around in the qualifying but other than that, nothing
>>
>>74124149
>Yes (in theory)
Great. Let's do it.
>>
>>74124191
Ok and while we're at it let's do salary caps, transfer caps and make the players donate 50% of their wages to charity
>>
nobody post for a while im making a new thread

football is interesting because it doesn't have silly american rules. stop trying to change it.
if your club is shit, then deal with it, artificially inflanting it with money, won't make it less shitty.
>>
>>74124233
>salary caps, transfer caps
No, don't like those ideas.
