Is anyone else really autistic about football squad numbers?
For example, pic related. Why the fuck is a full back wearing the number of a forward, when that number should have gone to Silva or De Bruyne?
You now remember William Gallas
>>74011347
Really
Aguero wears 10 as a striker and you're upset about Kolarov from city
>>74011347
I also suffer from number autism. De Guzman wears No. 1. Disgusting
i lose my shit if i see someone over number 19 starting every week. its ok for the first season but after that its unacceptable
who is gonna go out and buy a kit with a 32 on the back instead of a 7 or 9

Americans

Number 10 is interchangable amongst forwards. It can be worn by strikers, wingers or attacking midfielders.
Back in the days of 4-4-2, before the "number 10 role" was a thing, it would usually be worn by strikers.
My centre midfielder wore number 3. (he did occasionally play fullback
Another centre midfielder wore 7
And winger wore 8
JUST
>>74011405
>buying a "kit"
>buying a shirt with a number on it over the age of 14
>Number 1: Goalkeepers
>Numbers 2 and 3: Full backs (usually 2 as right back and 3 as left back)
>Numbers 4 and 6: Centre backs or defensive midfielders
>Number 5: Centre back
>Numbers 7, 10 and 11: Attacking midfielders, wingers or strikers
>Number 9: Strikers
How it should be. Anyone who assigns any of these numbers to a player not in that role is a pleb.
Oh, I forgot:
>Number 8: Central midfielder
I get mad when I see Dani Alves wearing the number 6, that fucking clown.

Yes & no.
Oldfag here - the Holland 1974 squad were the first (I believe) to use squad numbers so it's not new.
Do i want to see a keeper wear anything but 1 - never.

It bothers me sometimes. Like that one Inter striker who wore a number 3 shirt.
Enjoying Sheffield Wednesday's squad numbers this year.
>number 2 is their number two goalkeeper
>3 is a central midfielder
>5 is a central midfielder
>6 is a striker
>9 is a left winger/left back
Big fan also of some of the numbers in Serie A, like lads popping up with an 87 or a 77.

Mohamed Kallon?
Went off to form his own team in Sierra Leone if I remember rightly, FC Kallon.
>>74018913
I always found it odd why those Lazio lads always picked 18 or 88

anybody saying that CB's should be 4 and 5 have no clue about football and should be banned from this thread. 4 is for DM's, 6 is for CB's.

>>74019541
check out this CB. yeah, there are players that don't follow the usual, like balo being 45. doesn't mean its not been the general rule of squad numbers since football began having them.
>>74019568
Only if you're exclusively playing 442, which hasn't been the rule for decades
>>74019578

>>74011347
If i'm right Argentina used to assigne numbers by the Alphabetical order. The first Player in the Alphabet got the 1, the second the 2 and so on
>>74019583
That's literally the reason for the continental split
When numbering came in we played 442 and s america played 424

It seriously bugs me when I see anyone but the 2nd goalkeeper wearing the no.12 jersey.
Thoughts?
>>74019959
I personally prefer 7 for the left winger and 11 for the right winger
>>74012620
how do fuck did he make the 2010 wc
>>74019802
me too, it's the worst number, it just doesn't look good on outfield players, but for goalkeeper its the best, really wierd
>>74019959
>2-3-4-1
Beats this boring 4-2-3-1 these days.
I remember the Netherlands fielding the numbers 1 to 11 in a WC 2014 game. It was really satisfying

Fabregas wearing number 4 trigers me.
Instead of numbers, players should be wearing letters.
