And that D2 closes a largely entertaining opening night of the 2017 Premier League Darts season.

Kim Huybrechts' 2015 woes came back to haunt him as he became another victim of classic James Wade. After a fairly poor first two legs for the Belgian, he came back and eventually got it to 3-3. But a crucial double miss for a 25 out followed by a Wade 96 turned the match in the Machine's favour and although the Hurricane whipped in a 134, he just couldn't break the imperious Wade and lost another PL match 7-5.

Another 7-5 followed, but it was a complete choke from the inconsistent Adrian Lewis. Taking advantage of some atrocious finishing from Raymond van Barneveld, Snackpot had a 4-1 lead and after botching a 40 attempt, collapsed disastrously, Barney taking 6 of the next 7 legs to come through the victor.

In what will be his last PDC season, even a 96 average Phil Taylor was just too much for his mentally stunted bitch Dave Chisnall, although the dim one traded ton out finishes with the groper; 160 and 134 countered by Philth's 121 bull and 118. That aside, it wasn't that good a match and did demonstrate why Pheel is quitting.

Michael van Gerwen and Gary Anderson then played out a fascinating draw that saw the best of both men: MVG hit 12, 13 and 11 darters to go 3-1 up but Gando came back strong, hitting a 130 on D5 to tie it up at 4-4 and then sent MVG to his first non-win since October with a big 114. The Scotsman couldn't hold on in the 12th but this was a wonderful match.

A below-average Peter Wright benefited from Jelle Klaasen's incompetent finishing to claim a 7-4 win; the Cobra's bust on D14 when wanting D9 at 3-2 up the turning point as he won just one more leg from then, with Clown hitting a neat 120 in the match.
