How can you get your wheels up to their door when they simply turn into you the way 5 did?
You can't.
You can see that 10 even tried to check up, but couldn't because 5 turned right into him to block.
It was just a racing incident, and the refs made the right call.
>>73947889
so close to the 5 catching the tires and taking out both
>>73948342
The #10 shouldn't have attempted a pass from that far back in the first place, this is common sense in road racing. Taylor just divebombed the #5 hoping it would work out somehow
>>73948257
This clearly demonstrates that he had room to warrant the pass, and that 5 simply drove into him because he knew he fucked up.

>>73949074
>>73949087
I didn't watch the race but all-new mid-engined 911 yet it was slightly slower than the GT and it had to make one more pit stop. So not quite the bang Porsche was looking for?
Also why that extra pit stop? I thought this layout was supposed to be much more easier on the tires.
>>73949278
BoP. Balance of Performance. IMSA tries to nerf the better cars to make them get similar lap times, basically. So it doesn't matter how good Porsche engineers are if they get nerfed for making the car too good.
>>73949278
Not like the extra pit stop matters anyway, with constant FCY courtesy of PC cars going in the wall at least once every 30 minutes.
>>73949278
>I thought this layout was supposed to be much more easier on the tires.
It potentially can be. However they have to learn how to setup the car for that and manage the tires that way. They have decades of RR experience but they should be able to learn more at Sebring and be up to snuff for the rest of the season, they're almost there already.
>>73949272
Did they even give out penalties for contact in this race?
>>73949448
Only penalties I remember are from not wearing the right socks and other pit infractions
ACO/FIA should let the DPi race in the non-hybrid LMP1 class. like the old Rebellion/ByKolles teams. but they probably don't want an IMSA team having a chance of winning overall at Le Mans.
and IMSA should use the old open cockpit Zytek/Gibson LMP2 chassis to upgrade the PC class. give them the "old" LMP2 stuff.
>>73949998
They're on par with LMP2 Global are they not?
>>73950193

It's just the camera flipping out and going into day mode so everything looks dark as fuck instead of bright as fuck, there's nothing to see on any other camera.
>>73950223
yeah but they have to get nerfed to run in ACO LMP2 spec. instead of getting detuned they could run in full IMSA spec in the Non-H LMP1 class. Like Cadillac/Mazda should be able to enter with their engines if they want to.
but with Toyota and Porsche entering 6 cars max there's a chance with reliability issues or crashing out that an LMP2 car could legitimately win Le Mans overall.
>>73950685
yeah that was sort of a let down at the end. you know IMSA wanted WTR to win it was too good of a media story after finishing second so many times, sneak, and Angelelli retiring. rigged for Cadillac.
>>73951518
what a shame
>>73947815
>>change dp formula

this.
it felt like the same shit we got with the old DP. prototypes are still the worst class in IMSA racing. it's really all about the GTs. IMSA/Weathertech would be better off getting rid of prototypes and being a GT series.
How based are sports cars?
Someone please fund a v8sc series here in america.
I never liked the roadcourse layout that much. international horseshoe is the only "significant corner". the top speed for the banking will always be more important than the corners in the road course section. The only difficult corners are getting off the banking for Turn 1 and the chicane on the backstretch. If it wasn't for the rain during the night the layout is almost too easy for sportscars.
>>73949048
Pretty good. It looked like a brute in the horseshoe, but it was so huge and had trouble actually passing despite being right on another car's ass all the time.
It looked like it was twice the volume as the Ford GTs it was sticking on.
>>73951518
i've never been more disappointed in my life this is even worse than my son telling me he's straight
>>73952321
>he thinks braking from 200mph off the banking into a multiple radius off camber low speed corner is easy
It's kinda weird that IMSA schedules their only 24H race blue-ribbon main endurance event so early in the calendar year. Their first race is the biggest. there's no warm-up races. then Sebring 12H.
>>73951891
just watch trans am?
>>73952321
There is a chicane, too.
I'm a fan of it. Going from 200mph down to the corners is both technically difficult, and so hard on the brakes.
I'd just wish the horseshoe part was wider with more passing opportunities there.
The problem isn't so much how straight-heavy it is, so much as that the cars that are actually good in the tighter portion get blocked from passing so easily.
>>73952467
It is weird.
So many new cars that weren't really ready for it.
But I wouldn't do Sebring 12H first either. That course is so rough, it's almost as hard if not as hard as 24 at Daytona.
They should start with Bathurst.
>>73952562
Sebring is way harder mechanically in every regard but extended top end revs and the vertical force of the banking. Way hotter, far more acceleration and deceleration, way harder cornering because it's a high downforce track without bricks for tires.
