Not really. Back then the vast majority of /sp/ posters had no stake in the game because they rooted for shit teams. I remember when dolphins had a huge /sp/ fanbase even though they were shit. There wasn't anywhere near as much blatant bandwagoning and shitposting unless it involved one of the hated teams like the pats or philthy (not as much with vick)
