He's an incredible player. He's involved in almost every play, whether it's creating pressure, getting sacks, swatting balls, or stopping the run. He can even run meme plays on offense. The fact that he's pretty much double teamed every play makes it that much more impressive. I really hope he stays healthy, if he does I don't see why he can't be considered the greatest defensive player of all time. He's currently on pace to destroy the all time sack record of 200 (He's already at 74.5) and is someone teams game plan for every week. Plus he's white, what's not to like?

He is fast enough to be used as an edge rusher, which of course bolsters his sack count, but if they could get a tandem of Mercilus and Clowney as the edge rushers, while moving Watt more to the inside, he could be even more disruptive, and would be better positioned to use his incredible playmaking ability. How many NFL guards could deal with Watt's speed? Another talent at DE could also help, as Crick is a non-factor.

For example, if there is a defensive lineman who gets 30+ sacks two seasons in a row against double and triple teams all while destroying the other team's run game.

Reggie White averaged more than one sack per game before he went to the Packers and he was also outstanding against the run. He was very clearly the very best defensive lineman in the USFL and NFL for over one decade before going to Green Bay.

Watt is doing great and he is on pace to be considered one of the greatest defensive linemen ever. But he has not played long enough and for the years he has played, they were not incredible enough for him to be considered the greatest DL ever right now.
