what is the greatest game you've ever seen, /sp/?
I remember watching the miracle on ice with my dad
we both cried
Ur mom tryin to succ me
America/Cruz Azul final.
I bought my dad tickets to the NYG @ Saints game this year. He doesn't come in town a lot, and has trouble making it up to the upper level of the dome, but GOD DAMN that was an amazing game. Had historic numbers lead changes, everything. Its cool to watch it with him too because he used to play nose tackle and knows alot more about the game than I do.
In a vacuum/importance of outcome not a factor? Super Bowl XLIII.
Importance of outcome a factor? Super Bowl XLII.
last year's superbowl was pretty dang good
Ohio State cucking Alabama in last year's Sugar Bowl
Wasn't there in person but I don't think we will see one greater than Germany 7, Brazil 1 in our lifetime. 50-60 years of heartache and pain over losing in the final of the last World Cup in their home, Brazil, the greatest team in soccer history, loses in what would equate to a 49-7 loss in American football. Not only were those old wounds and heartbreaks reopened, but salt was poured onto them while simultaneously scraping the wounds with sandpaper.
The story, the history, the drama, and the spectacle of it all makes a very strong case. Maybe not the most nailbiting exciting game, but it's the kind of game and moment you could write entire books about.

I wouldnt say it's even directly relateable to 49-7. That's a bad blowout, but even 4-1 is a bad blowout in soccer because of how difficult it is to score a goal.
It was honestly like a 70-10 loss in american football, and Germany scored 50 points in a quarter.
I was at the Alabama vs Mississippi State game last year, and while not the best/most controversial game ever, it was easily the most hype that stadium has ever been.

You're right, I was being a little modest with the comparison. I just went with the straight Touchdown 7:1 conversion rate.

I was at the UH/Pitt Armed Forces bowl last year. I'm a huge Coogs fan, so this was a massive deal for me. Not a terribly important game, but it meant a lot to me, and a lot of fun. Oh, and coming back from down 25 points in the 4th and winning is pretty nasty, all those recovered onside kicks...

Serious question why the hell does anyone watch, let alone enjoy, college sports over pro ones? Except for the convenience of it happening right at your school?
>>64693197
because you can like both and dont have to pick between the two. The only reason to dislike college sports is because you either went to a college with an irrelevant sports program or you didnt go to college.

He didnt even sell them, he just didn't go.
>>64693197
I go to both Panthers games and Clemson games, and the best way I can describe it to you is that they just have different feelings to them. NFL games are like one big party where everyone comes and watches these superstars. College games are like this big community throwing a huge event, with music, parades, pageantry, and tons of young people. They're very similar but different, and I think the traditional stuff like marching bands and school spirit (homegrown and not manufactured love for the team) is what really sells stuff for colleges.
College basketball is also a lot more fun to watch in person than professional basketball because the fans are actually involved.

That's the closest they've come to a natty in over 50 years. And let's be honest, winning a cfp natty is a much bigger deal than winning one in the 50's when they were just handed out after the regular season.
When I was in high school we beat the #1 team in the nation in overtime. Held them to a field goal when they had a 1st and goal from the 1 and then scored on the second play of our possession. Shit was cash.

When Ray Allen hit the game-tying 3 I genuinely jumped up out of my seat. A truly spiritual experience.
My dad passed away shortly after I turned 12 and I remember the night after his funeral, we were at the hotel watching game 1 or 4 of the 2005 ws I can't remember which one it was, I was pulling for Chicago cuz my dad was a big Chicago sports fan and it was sox Astros, first world series for the sox since 1915 or something like that and the game went like 14 innings which at the time was the longest ws game ever played and Jermaine dye walked off in the 14th to win it.
