From what I gather, if you're constantly matching with 5s or 6s, the app will assume that's your range. The guy who made the app based your rating on ELO because, get this, he played warcraft and in his mind, beating a stronger opponent would give you more ELO whereas beating a lower opponent would yield less ELO. Not sure how it all works out 100% though.
