You may want to invest in a photo shoot if you're serious enough. It's better, obviously, if a friend can do it for free/little pay.
Photoshop skills can also help milk a photo for all that it's worth (I used it for my photos), but it cannot salvage a bad photo, no matter what you do.
Use Photofeeler. Your idea of what looks good is never what other people think.

Decent first picture, but you're going to get skipped a lot becouse of your hair. Invest in a better haircut and have a friend take a good picture of you. The seccond picture is more what you're going for but again the hair doesn't work. No one cares about how mutch you can lift but dudes. If you're not in the picture don't use it, get rid of the last one or maybe get a pic with the animal with you in it. That would actually work wonders. Don't tell too mutch about yourself in your description. Say something funny.
