What is your reason for the trip? Do you worry about driving through places like Alabama? Is it dangerous for outsiders? Will you take a gun? (OK I know Atlanta isn't dangerous, but like the real messed up sort of small places you hear about with lynchings and all that)

A couple hitch hiking stories for you.
I drive a big ass white unmarked van, and inside I have decked it out with shag carpet. I usually have snacks, water, an extra tank of gas, and all the tools needed to work on the van if it breaks down somewhere or I need to fix a flat, so all the time if I'm not going anywhere in particular and I see someone on the side of the road I'll stop to help change a tire or give someone a gallon of gas to get to a gas station. There have been times where I'll see someone with their thumb up, ill stop, and probably because it's a van and I'm a muscular guy they'll just be like nope... no thanks. Other times, I've given a guy a trip some 60 miles down hwy10 in FL from Lake city to Tallahassee. No problem.

There is no ass rape Alabama. Drive through the storm. They aren't that bad. It's a highway, it's populated, there are other people... Why is everyone online afraid of people. When you go to the store to buy food do you think the guy at the register is going to kill and rape you? The world ain't that sick. It's a 13 hour drive, I'll have to stop for gas twice, no biggy. You can get food, coffee, sit down have a meal if you want. I can stop at a rest stop and sleep in the van if I want. I've been leaving my keys in the ignition for over 10 years and it's never been broken into or stolen. The hell are you scared of?

Anyways, over a few pots of coffee she tells me she's currently visiting her sister there in HazelGreen but needs a ride back to Myrtle Beach for the weekend to go to a swingers reunion, so I offer to drive her if she'll pay for gas. Wasn't like I was doing anything else that weekend. another 12 to 13 hour drive, she made it much nicer by giving me road head. Never hitchiked but I did Give this one guy a ride from Fayetville wv to philly on my way a few weeks ago. Nice guy, he was black, from Miami, the same neighborhood my dad is from. I live on red rd in Hialeah, I just go to vicky bakery. If I go south flor Cuban food I go to Versallies or this really low key place off Dolphin expressway called El Nino Cafeteria. I highly recommend El Nino if you're in the area, it's run in what used to be a storage warehouse, it's on a back street, and only locals go there. I used to get pizza every Wednesday at this place called Hungry Howies. Most of them suck because you know kids run them, but every once in a while there's a pretty good location. Anyways, Wednesday carry out only you can get a large pizza for 5 bucks. So it's like 10 pm and I come in to get this pizza and there's this guy drunk as a chimney trying to order a pizza for delivery so he can hitch a ride with the delivery driver. Gave him a ride back to whatever posh hotel he was staying in a few miles north, he gave me 20 bucks.

How's Tampa OP?

Hitchhiked a few times. People are generally pretty amazing and surprised that someone like me is hitchhiking (college student, pretty decently dressed). It's never necessary, I just like the adventure.

Going from Calgary to Vancouver (10 hr drive) a guy picked me up and drove the whole way. He was the nicest guy, we got along really well. Stopped to take pictures, swim in a lake, go go-karting. He even payed for a hotel for the night and set us up on a double date through tinder with two girls in town. He was literally a model, so the girls were like, a step above what I'm used to. All in all it was a good experience, he balled out, paid for everything, and we got along so well the girls thought we were bullshitting about him picking me up, couldn't believe we met each other 4 hours before.

There was only one time that was sketchy when a gay porn producer picked me up in Texas and started rubbing my dick.

If you take the first route there's some cool caves you can check out west of Tallahassee. Don't remember exactly where but its pretty cool.
