Bipolar can have episodes of psychosis like that yeah, and lost in thought inattentive can also happen in certain moods with bipolar. She was likely correctly diagnosed with bipolar if that's what she was diagnosed with, but I can't tell you that for sure and no one online will be able to obviously.

Diagnosed Cyclothymia (milder less bipolar spectrum) dude here. Shit sucks forreal. Months on end feel great and on top of the world then suddenly for no reason whatsoever, even with everything in life going your way, you out of the blue feel depressed and sad as fuck.
