Kik sends notifications regardless if you're in a chat or not which forces you to disable them but then you don't get an alert for new messages while in some other application. Kik doesn't have a desktop client which makes it really hard to have a proper conversation longer than "haha xd send nudes". Kik has broken image sharing mechanisms and images fail to download often. Kik has shown to be vulnerable to exploits multiple times (LFI/RCE) and is closed source. Kik has no interest in improving their privacy oriented features and probably sells your data given that they recently opened their privacy policy to even more data collection. Kik also has no dark theme so when I'm forced to type on a phone (and not on the desktop client which doesn't exist), I have to get my eyes burned. Kik is atrocious and we should stop using it as soon as possible.

Yeah, but you can use one of the many fake phone numbers online. Even if you use your own, that number is shown to nobody who isn't in your contacts and has telegram.
