I might get a promotion at my job.

It's backroom stock position. I work with 5 female co-workers and 1 male coworker.

I was thinking of keeping the workload gender neutral. Everybody, male or female learns every job, even the heavy lifting and processing.

I won't force the males to do the stronger lifting, not force women to do the simpler work. I think a gender neutral backroom will work fine.

I hope I get that promotion.

I used to work as a liquor clerk which also meant lifting and carting heavy boxes full of bottles, or retrieving them from high places. It actually irritates me as a women when men put me in "simpler" jobs or immediately assume I can't do something they perceive as a "man's task" without even giving me a chance or asking what I'd like to do.

Also worked security at conventions, and when my old shift leader left and was replaced, the new guy relegated me and every other woman except his police officer crush to dispatch (essentially a secretary position) without a second thought. I was experienced on the floor and have a commanding presence but still kind enough to not be completely intimidating, while about half the guys out on the floor were timid or lacked quick reasoning skills and would have been better on dispatch.

People should be judged by their ability and willingness to do a task, not by their gender's presumed capabilities based on nothing more than society's stereotypes.

I'm a 5'11 woman, the other clerk was a 5'4" ish guy, guess who was better at box-hauling and retrieving. Hint: not him.

Men naturally put on muscle mass easier, but a sedentary guy isn't really going to hold up against anyone (female or otherwise) who is experienced in heavy duty work.

While it's still probably true, consider that female on male sexual crimes often go unreported because of the shame associated with the act. My ex and current housemate was raped by a female friend who fed him alcohol until he blacked out and woke up with her on top of him. He didn't even realize this was rape until myself and another female friend pointed it out to him.

I thought the whole point of a job was to be qualified for it? If people can't lift heavy stuff maybe they should stay away from heavy lifting regardless of gender.

It's like having someone flip burgers at McDonald's who hasn't had any cooking experience and just saying "everyone will do the best they can" while that person flipping burgers fucks up 50% of the orders. Meanwhile someone else on staff has 2+ years cooking experience and can't do the job because of "MUH EQUALITY"

There's "trying" and then there's "hiring someone for the job because they have experience."

Why do you hate being looked up to as a man. Men generally hold more status than women in almost any society. Is this bad?
