Legit suggestion check out Neptune's Parlour. Nice dive bar that does live shows fairly often. Slims is another good joint.

If you're looking for stuff that doesn't involve booze, hit up the Natural Science museum. They rotate a paid exhibit twice a year, don't live in that area anymore so I don't know what they have going on right now.

Other suggestions would be Boxcar (a fucking nice barcade) and Videri Chocolate Factory which are right across from one another. Downtown is effectively an adult playground, there's almost always something to do.

If you have a dog and live in that area I highly recommend getting the maps of the Duke Forest divisions. I think you have to mail $10 to duke after getting the information off of a website and they'll mail you the physical maps. But there are more "Duke Forests" around than one might think and they can be really nice to hike around in. Korstian division is very enjoyable. There is some information online about but Duke seems to like to keep that info digitally restricted.
