Well I could make it out of iron rods, however on top of being heavier it will also start getting rusty quite soon and I'm not sure how might zinc react with skin. Yeah, it's so frustratingly hard to find a device you can wear indefinitely. It seems to take a lot of experimentation.

I like that halfshell design because it covers the glans completely like the HolyTrainer does, which for me solves the problem of skin getting pinched whenever your body is at an odd angle (e.g., on a bicycle). It also has the integrated lock, which is much nicer than a dangling padlock. The open underside means cleaning and drying out is very doable.
