My girlfriend of over two years recently began a quarter life crisis and decided she needs her space. This thread and the people in it make me feel quite forlorn.

I've never made it a habit to lie and manipulate to get things out of people be it sexual, romantic or otherwise.

I’m by no means perfect but I often wonder if I'm the only one that’s even trying to uphold this Ideal.

Just recently I've had two separate people I called friends for the better part of a year try to use or manipulate me.

One of them I would help with anxiety issues sometimes hours at a time, I didn't do it to get anything out of it or even to hear gratitude, I did it because I thought if I could help my friend even if just a small bit it would be worth it.

Even though I've known this person for a better part of a year and I've talked with quite often, this person throws me away as soon as life starts looking up for them end mine looks the opposite.

But maybe everyone in this thread is right, they all take what they want and then leave when they've had their fill, I just keep being left in the aftermath.
