I have a disorder with my eyes which causes them to dry out in the night and if my eyelids flutter in my sleep, or if I open them too suddenly when I wake, the top layer of cells from my eye get stuck to the inside of my eyelids and torn off. It's called recurrent corneal erosion and it's agony.
I have to apply eye-drops every night in order to minimise its occurrence.
