I wasn't looking for "just friends". I already have a number of friends who are close enough that I can be my autistic self around without fear of judgment. I Meade the thread looking for something more because I want to experience romantic love one day. It's not about sex either. No? What world are you in that most people have girlfriends at 12? Most people I know didn't date until they went off to university. I've dated three guys in their 20s (one was 21-22 during when we dated, one was 22, and one was 25-27) who all had never been in relationships prior to that and were virgins. Not to mention my current partner is 24 and only dated/slept with one woman before we started dating. Your lack of experience is not as uncommon as you have yourself wound up to thinking it is.

Your main problem is that you want a girlfriend and nothing else. What you should aim for is people who will enrich your life in any capacity, whether it's romantic, sexual, platonic, or familial. You're shutting out anyone who doesn't immediately fit into your "possible girlfriend" box, and it's just going to limit the great people who could be part of your life, one of them eventually falling into that romantic box.

If a girl shows interest in you and you aren't used to it, I'm not saying it can't be overwhelming or nerve-wracking. But most new experiences or feelings can cause nervousness! That doesn't mean that is inherently wrong or bad. But you shouldn't be so obsessed with finding a girlfriend that the minute any woman shows interest in you, you put all of your eggs in one basket.
