I socially transitioned before starting to take medical steps (it's common here, unlike in the US, I think) so legally, even tho I could physically be considered as a girl, it's gay.
But: If you are 100% straight, and you fuck an ftm (before medical transition!) it will most likely not feel "right". I had many guys, even guys who were just hook ups and didn't actually knew I'm ftm, tell me I just act different..not like something they would consider a girl behaviour. It's hard to explain. Beyond clothes and even naked you just get the feel of someone being male, for example, the way a guy walks is usually different than from how a girl walks. The way a guy may talk to another guy might be different from a regular girl talking to a guy. A trans guy probably has different likes and dislikes than then the average girl, that's all stuff that still gives it away for balantly but, straight cis men. A year ago I had fwb with a guy and after a few times he told me something doesn't fit in when we fuck, he told me how he never met a girl who would go bullshit mad when you just touches her chest, or a girl who had almost her entire fist up the ass to cum. When I came out to him it made sense to him. When I came out to one of my current partners, it just made sense to him.

It's probably not quite the clarification you are looking for but I'm a straight guy that's friends with a couple of ftms, I know another couple and a few mtfs. Friends of friends at uni booze-ups largely it's grown from. But anyway in terms of their personality and attitude I'd much prefer the ftms I know, no-nonsense, relatable, comfortable. The mtfs tend to try too hard to be feminine, are more highly strung. As an aside there's the looks, ftms, even the less handsome ones I know have had a relatively gentle transition from tomboy to young man via twink and/or raffish schoolboyish type look. Mtf is real 50s jet test pilot stuff, they might crash and burn and just never pass or come through the other side doing well but either way it's a difficult transition for the duration.
