yup. 20+ auto x events without a single mechanical failure. The reliability is in the tune. And I daily drive it 40+ miles a day in stop and go traffic.

2017 Toyota Yaris. Just bought it at the beginning of November. Before that I drove a 2007 Yaris. Before that a 2002-ish Echo. They are easy to work on, and cheap. I like them.

Yeah mine's a stock 1.8 other than a cold air, catback, and flying miata coilovers on there. I fucking love it, picked it up for $2.7k with 110k miles on it. It even has that cheesy ass wood grain interior.

Yeah man, they run forever. And they use cheap-ass, super-common parts that you can buy anywhere. It's one of the only new models of cars that run well and you can still work on without a lot of professional-quality tools. My echo I finally smashed on the freeway, then rolled my first yaris off a (fairly small) cliff. Finally got around to buying a new car, and super happy with it, so far. Except they only make the hatchback model, now, but that's not so bad.

I've never really looked at the Yaris, I know it's very similar to the echo, at least the earlier models. I always thought the offset cluster was funny but i kinda got used to it. And parts were always cheap as shit like you said and it was super easy to work on. Also that sweet sweet gas mileage. I DD a 2015 mazda 3 grand touring 6-speed. I love it but sometimes I lament not really being able to do shit to it and sometimes i still miss the echo, just such a well designed trooper of a car.

Yaris and Echo are the same model. Early generations of the Yaris were branded Echo in certain markets, until the Echo name was dropped ~2006.
