Vitiligo does zero harm, although it's understandably gonna mess with your head if you're dark skinned, so sorry if so.

Make sure your doctor tests you for related autoimmune illnesses, especially thyroid antibody test, liver function test, full blood count, and whatever the one is that tests for pernicious anaemia (I forget).

It's not guaranteed, but vitiligo is commonly associated with several other disorders and many doctors are too lazy to bother checking for them. Fortunately most of them aren't deadly, they'll just leave you exhausted and with a host of minor ailments that add up to a lot of frustration, and almost all can be quite easily treated with minimal impact on your life (most of mine are sorted with a tablet or an injection three times a year).

As far as relationships go, it won't matter. Actually, that's how I found out I had it - a girlfriend used to trace her fingers around it and I later realised that it had grown in size, so wasn't just a birthmark, and got to reading. That led on to discovering the first of my now extensive collection of illnesses, hurrah!

Seriously though, no woman will care. If anything you'll probably find that people who like you will do like my ex did, and make a habit of idly touching you more just because the patterns are already there.
