- Single females looking to join couples are called unicorns for a reason, they are extremely hard to come by. You will have the best luck finding another male-female couple to swing with. Dictionary definitions, sure. Reality? I don't think so, at least not what I've seen. Personal anecdotes are what they are so take this with as much salt as you choose, but recently "poly" has come to mean having an open ended number of extra partners in an otherwise monogamous relationship without any room for discussion (piggybacking on the argument that sexual orientation, including poly, isn't a choice and therefore cannot be discussed). I agree that 'real poly' and swinging are categorically different things, but I'm cautioning that this kind of 'poly' exists, is different, and is something to be cautious about getting involved in.
