Hey /soc/!

Show me something you are proud of. It can be a skill, your hobby, something material that you conquered, unbelievable people you had sex, anything that leave others jelly.

Thats my dog. She is dying with colon cancer, and i am very proud of her. She was trained with police k9 units. Very strong and unstoppable hunter, climbed walls and all that shit

I lead a university level rocket science group. We're making a kickass satellite, gonna set some records with it. I'm really hyped about what we've accomplished so far. Here's a render I did.

>>24275007
Sweet goods. Can appreciate the satisfaction of producing something like that manually. Rock on
>>
>>24275091
That's impressive, nobody would guess self-taught if you didn't mention it. Not a lot of people can get action poses to look so fluid and natural.

>>24275156
Woah you really designed the hell out of yourself. Do you like where you're at now or have bigger plans?
>>
>>24275233
Nice job with the sattelite, dude. Can you say what sort of records?

Also I like how I look, and I don't have any new tats kn mind at the moment. That's not to say I never will, though. I've still got space left! :p
>>
>>24275249
We're aiming for first student-made interplanetary satellite, built on campus and all. I cannot reveal yet the nature of the scientific mission, though the important part is that anyone can get to another planet on rel. low budget. But yeah, super proud of the team.

I'm kinda glad at your response, good to hear you can be satisfied where you are and just appreciate it.
>>
>>24275233

thanks bud, it's been 2 decades of practice though.
What kind of records are you hoping to break with the satellite, that's quite the achievement.

I buy and repair damaged handheld consoles. PSP's go like hotcakes in my area, in the past 6 months ive bought probably 60 separate psps, and made 35 working units. buy 60 at 15 a pop and sell at 60 for mad profit.

I like to smoke pot and do acid in my off time, so aside from my actual job I need a source of income. This combined my knowledge of handhelds, and the experience repairing my own to create something that is very zen for me and it makes me quite a bit of money.

Hey man! i do it too, but not for money, i started building my own retro console collection. Here is what i have so far. I open them up, restore, add RGB channels and better FM chips, things like that.

Im in a country where is relatively hard and expensive to find and buy some stuff. My NES costed me about $200. Thats a LOT money around here.

wtf man this looks hard as fuck, did you repair and repaint that? amazing job, great skills

I love mechanics and repairs in general. I couldn't help but build a little workshop in my house. I absolutely love to practice my mig welding skills, you must be a pro amirite?
>>
>>24275562
How do you define success in /with divination? Is it results driven or adherence to a procedure? I'm being completely genuine in my interest.
>>
>>24275672
Thank you. Appreciate it. I've been doing it for about ten years now. Started when I was 14. I mainly focus on the repair side of things. But I'm not afraid to pick up a paint gun. It can be a tough gig. Not many young people are doing it anymore where I'm from. Yeah having your own little set up would be nice. I'm fortunate that I can do any sort of work I want at my work place. But I feel like when I retire, I'm still going to do bits and pieces. Ah, love me so welding. I could sit there for hours welding away. Especially when the welds are real clean and solid.
>>
>>24275672
I'm digging all your bits and bobs as well. Seem like a cool person. I love seeing people pick stuff up with passion.
>>
>>24275694
I define it in terms of results. Tarot is the most common, but I'm better at scrying. Various people gave come back months later and told me that the person or scene I described was perfectly described.

In terms of methods like tarot, I can give broad overviews of situations and have these things confirmed on the spot. I sometimes get confirmations later as well.

In any case, I define my skill by my accuracy.
>>
>>24275694
i think that kind of success come from enlightenment and spiritual development.
You become aware, sensible and intuition driven.
Since i am a Kardecist, this also involves studying some physics, chemistry and biology along with chackras, mediunic properties and religion subjects.

But thats just what i think

there is something incredibly rewarding in doing a nice, scaled, sturdy joint between metal sheets, even if it is just a useless sacrificial part...

cause it feels like trying to draw something really small and detailed with a assault rifle wearing a medieval armor

>>24275777
Haha couldn't have said it better myself.

>>24275214
Hmm, how are you going to keep the solar panels oriented correctly towards the sun, for maximum efficiency, using what looks like door hinges only, to unfold them? Using thrusters to reposition the satellite would be very fuel intensive, that's why they swivel stuff like that anon, you need two axis of adjustment for them.
>>
>>24276871
You've caught the glaring issue of our prototype. We intended to minimize flexibility in panels to reduce possible degradation and failures, instead using flywheels to orient the whole craft. Newest calculations showed we wouldn't get nearly enough juice for the ion engine that way so we've updated to a two-axis joint. The sat can roll about its thrust axis for the third degree of rotation

Here's the original off-the-shelf part we wanted to use.

Making custom parts means we have to spend more money and do way more testing, but its apparently going to be necessary for this scope of mission

I've been casting I Ching using an algorithmically unmodified variant of the 50-stalk method for almost three years... Only personally and for a few friends so far. It scares me how on point the readings come out. A close friend of mine does tarot and she did a reading for me at the beginning of the year that was pretty freaky too. Then a week ago I was at this sculpture installation (best way to describe it) and there was a tarot deck so I picked it up, shuffled it, put down five cards in what I thought was the correct order, took a picture and sent it to her. She basically told me exactly what I was going through even though we had barely talked in months.

I'm a healthy sceptic but there is definitely something about tarot and divination and other sorts of mental influences on probability and some people are more attuned to it than others.

Also curious to see what your take on this is, forgive me if I use a wrong or simple or gay layout.
>>
>>24277439
I actually can't identity that spread, so I can't answer for it. It looks like on I've seen someone else on this board use, but I never learned to use it. I actually use my own spreads for the most part because I like my readings to be advice-heavy. It may change the outcome and cost me someone coming back and telling me I predicted the future, but I would rather help the querent make a positive change than feed my ego.

>I Ching
I love I Ching for results of processes, actions, or works that are meant to cause a change. I have a friend who does this extremely well, so I sometimes hit him up when I'm about to make up my mind to do something drastic.

>there is definitely something
There are a few theories, but my theory of choice is that the object used functions like a GUI to help the diviner make sense of the complex calculations performed by the unconscious mind. The magic happens in the diviner's unconscious mind, not in the cards. This becomes more readily apparent with methods that are less reliant on objects.

This issue reminds me of some kid that discovered that when you position solar panels just like leaves on a tree (fibonacci, generative) you get a very efficient solar system.

>there is definitely something
precisely. There are some forms of vibration that we can't access thru our 5 senses, so we use another form os astral communication. Thats why every living organism produces DMT and dreams.

Everything is in divine order because it was planned accordingly. Dimensions, planets, lifeforms, this shit is all made by astral engineers and scientists. Existence is just like going to thru school. We live in the electromagnetic dimension. Even we, our human behavior, works congruently to this fundamental force of physics, e.g. ever noticed when we get hurt how we take our hands to cover the place? And dogs get licking? Thats our "positive pole", where electrons flow to. If we talk about "energy" and "vibrations", nothing better than applying the same rules of the tangible science to the unknown to see how it goes.

This is a nice idea for a thread, it's good to see what other people have achieved.

Kinda dumb but I've been teaching myself cursive since yesterday. Obviously it's not perfect but I'm pretty pleased with the progress so far. Someday I'll have a flex nib fountain pen and be able to do pretty calligraphy...
