No, I just don't think libertarian--authoritarian is a great spectrum. I was trying to say that I'm not at all authoritarian, but while advocating for minimal state intervention might sound like a good solution in spirit, it only compounds economic inequality, and in my experience, the attitude of libertarians reflects a stunning lack of compassion for their fellow citizens (fuck welfare! the poor are lazy! every man for himself! etc) which I couldn't find less attractive if I tried.

I mean typically libertarians are people who realize that the governmental systems just fail. I've known people who worked hard who fell on hard times and struggled and the people who usually are like that don't take handouts. They're typically too proud, it's unfortunate but I've seen people who are far more likely to abuse the system than to use it properly. I've had friends who full on abused welfare, hell people abuse the shit out of state government in general and state unions are just plain cancerous. (I have family who work in state government) It's basically impossible to fire anyone even if there are physical altercations involved unless they do something way above and beyond.

I think any libertarian is just a failed idealist, I used to believe in a system like socialism back in high school.
