I do a lot of trimming to keep the stay hairs in check. Once I apply some beard balm - not a fan of the oil - after a shower.. I brush it and trim the crazy hairs.

Oil for me doesn't hold anything..The balm i use is called Honest Amish beard balm and it seems to hold the shape and hairs better.
