Don't give up on your classes though! One thing I tend to do is psyche myself out of going to class. "Oh, I'm too tired this morning." "Oh, I can just read the book to learn that..." And then next thing I know it's a test and I don't know shit. I've given up of college twice before, so I force myself to get out of bed and force myself to get my ass to the college. Actually being there for the lectures and what not is half the battle. Now if you are going to class and properly studying and all of that...well I can't help you there.

Trig identities are pretty useless for computer science, I suppose... but for just about every form of engineering and in physics they're incredibly important. Also, if you have to take calculus, you'll learn that the trig identities help with some derivation/integration. They kind of crop up where you wouldn't expect them.
