hi! this is for folks who like marine biology in every region of the ocean. (deep sea, coral reefs, coast, open ocean, etc.) I just really love it and i thought it would be fun to talk with other people who do too! :^)

I'm thinking of doing marine biology next year
What is the least saturated field and what is the most rigorous field and what is the field with the most potential for new groundbreaking discoveries?

I find all biology quite interesting but I'm dropping in to say FUCK JELLYFISH AND EVERYTHING RELATED
That is all

wish freshwater biology was more prevalent

bumoop
HOE JELLYFISH ARE AMAZING EVERYTHING ABOUT THEM IS AMAZING WATCH YOUR MOUTH
deep sea exploration definitely. also im the thread creator, wanna talk about it??

yes lets talk about the causal implications of biodiversity loss in coastal and epipleagic ecosystems for deep water ecosystems.
do you know much about physical oceanography? i want to look at these problems from a patch dynamics and ecosystem perspective. I imagine that the deep sea has not been spared from the ravages of the Anthropocene.
also sponge reefs and deep water coral and there role in recruitment, primary production, and robustness for deepwater ecosystems.
When it comes to marine biology i know alittle bit about everything and most about many things. Ive been studying marine life since I could point an animal encyclopedia out to my mom. I focus in ecosystem/network science, dynamics, behavioral ecology, eco-evo, and am very knowledgeable in taxonomy. So if anyone wants to ask me a question or talk about something id be stoked

iktf, its very hard to find information on freshwater wildlife and ecology. Freshwater ecosystems have been hit even harder than our oceans. There is hardly anything left to study in the "developed" world
