/sci/ chooses to ignore /x/ in general, not any specific idea or information that comes from /x/. And you can't ignore random shit before you even know it exists. But yes, many on this board will choose to ignore any claims made that are either fantastical or lack sources. Claiming something impossible to make was still somehow made is both fantastical AND retarded because the evidence OBVIOUSLY exists that it was done, therefore not impossible (like the whole according to physics bees can't fly meme). Also, correlation does not imply causation. Just because you can make pretty shapes out of dots in the sky does not make them suddenly mean anything. Also, constellations cannot be discovered, they are created.

It isn't about consensus, it is about standing up to rigorous testing while still yielding repeatable results. All scientific courses are the opposite of mindless because every single science course I've seen requires experimentation. Science fairs, labs, etc, all require questioning and testing what is taught in the book, and analyzing the results. The fact that almost all of the basic experiments yield the same results isn't due to a perceived consensus, but because of the way the universe actually works. Otherwise, nice conspiracy theory.
