Some civilizations reach type II but after that we would have efficient fusion, quantum vacuum fluctuation energy extraction, or mass energy equivalance engines driven by hawking radiation from captured/created black holes. The mass/energy equivalence potential from a few stars and planets would power all of our energy needs for the duration of the universe. If any species ever needs to build a galactic sized solar farm, they are doing something wrong.
