Is there a way to measure intelligence not counting IQ tests? I ask because IQ test and standardized test put me at (120-130) but I do stupid mistakes frequently.

For example, I am a horrible speller, forget words when I type/write, forget to pluralizes words, make bad driving mistakes, fill wrong answer on tests, forget email attachments, mess up my timesheet, bad at arithmetic (but good at abstract math), mark wrong date on calender and show up to an interview a week early, etc etc.

I know everyone makes mistakes but they happen to me a lot more than normal. People who don't know about my academic success think I am an airhead. If am only good at abstract concepts and pattern recognition am I truly smart? I feel like a part of my brain is deficient.

I'm pretty similar and I think it's because my mind is always somewhere other than what I'm doing, whenever I do something that doesn't require much thought I just go into autopilot

many of these can be explained by executive function differences which is distinct from IQ.

I have been telling myself this but admittedly I think my case is more than just autopilot. I have to proof check everything I do and still I'll mess up somehow. It's like my mind is full of blind spots.

Most IQ tests don't test long term memory which is a huge aspect of intelligence, so they are useless anyways.

Intelligence can be spotted in seconds. Retards tend to stand out. They are simple minded and shallow as fuck

Thanks. I looked up executive function problems and while I don't think have a disorder or many symptoms many of my mistakes can be explained by it.

My long term memory is actually pretty good. but I do suck at dates or remembering to do things or remembering details. I think I just remember the big picture and my brain fills in the rest (sometimes incorrectly)

yes, people make slips like that all the time. There are individual differences and they get compromised at different times but if you had a serious problem with it, you probably would be in bad trouble.

Do those executive functions also include short term memory? In the last couple of years I have noticed that I tend to forgot stuff like where I just put those keys EXTREMELY often, yet academically I'm doing better than ever.
>>

Yeah it can include short term memory lapses. Maybe you're just not concentrating properly on what you were doing/doing more than one thing at a time. That can make you forget stuff like that and similar things like forgetting what you were supposed to do.

Should also note that people that do well academically typically have better executive function.
