Bumping the prescription will move the focal point to a space in front of your retina, leading to disorientation. The goal of corrective lenses is actually to get you to 20/15 vision, which is the ability to focus things from 20 meters away that a healthily-sighted person would have to stand 15 meters away from to perceive.
