Do you think you will be able to leave a mark? Like people to remember you by something? Like Newton, or Tesla.

Mathematically, no. That's why I write fiction. If I die I'll always have my books to remind people that I once lived.

>If I die
you mean when?
>>9134612
No no I mean if.
>>9134585
It will become harder as the population increases.
>>9134585
i hope so. that's the goal.
>>9134700
doubt i'll ever leave a mark as big as newton, tesla, or any of the other giants, especially with this dysfunctional mind. a smaller mark will have to do.
>>9134585
It won't be a mark. It will be a cosmic tear. Right across the face of the cosmos.
IMO the best way to leave a lasting mark would be to get some results in an obscure field without too much competition.
Assuming that mankind colonized the galaxy and becomes even more numerous, even an obscure field will have a many practitioners.

Eh, not really. The chance of that is extremely low. However, I do have a dream of becoming a Howard Hughes type of person (without the phobias), so I hope my plan of mixing engineering with finance will work out. I don't need to discover a whole new field, I'm content with cash and fame... It'd also be nice if I could do some actual good in the world. My dream is to produce the finest of augmentations some day. The blind shall see, the cripples shall walk, etc, etc. Maybe build a few of the first colonies. Eh, it might be a "childish" dream, but fuck you, I'll try to make it come true.
