What are some books that explore mathematics before set theory?
Why no answers?!
pls respond
Bump. What you might be looking for is something called "logic". The study of logic, however, may not suit your mathematical tastes. Perhaps you mean constructive mathematics? Constructivists argue that math is subjective, and that there are many different ways one can construct mathematical objects. Set theory (and everything else for that matter) being one such example. (This is my unfamiliar opinion)

Any calculus book.
Euclid, Elements.
Find a good traduction, and translate it in modern math while u read. It's very good.

What's wrong with set theory?
what do you mean by before set theory?

I think that OP is referring to
Mathematical Logics.
However there are many books too advanced & formal out there targeted to graduate math students. These books are way harder than for example Halmos Naive Set Theory.
I recommend an easier math subject that include the basics of both. Books about Discrete Mathematics.

>What's wrong with set theory?
Never said there was anything wrong with it.
>what do you mean by before set theory?
Exactly that. Theory of any mathematical object without using sets (functions, vectors, etc).
I am pretty sure there's some old analysis books that don't delve into sets at all.

Any calculus book (like Apostol / Spivak) except things like Stewart (and the likes) will make use of sets.
