There is no hard evidence that the EmDrive, or any designs like it, do actually produce measurable thrust. Many groups have built prototypes based on Shawyer's theoretical design, and unlike Shawyer, have released their prototypes and their findings to the public, their results showing no measurable thrust of any kind.
New Scientist got in deep shit for reporting on the EmDrive without commenting on its controversy, and they were thusly destroyed by physicists left right and centre.
