Hi /sci/ I have always had this question but never got a clear answer. Is IQ or Intelligence genetic or is it gained from your environment from when you are little.

If it is genetic then does that mean that if smart people make a child, the child will be very smart?

I am not the smartest but when i compare myself to my parents i feel like a genius.

From what i've heard, up to 40% of your IQ comes from genetics.

So if the smartest people in the world did reproduce, the child could possibly be the most intelligent person on the planet. Possibly.

Keep in mind: If you for instance engineer everyone to have similar IQ then it becomes entirely environment. Same thing if environment is more fair in a society it will be more determined by genetics.

So in a society with great distribution of opportunity and resources you will get results more based on genetics alone.
