Take your average run of the mil jet.
ionise the leading edge of the wing.
My question is? How much extra lift and speed is produced? Would higher altitude in an airplane be possible? Can you use this technology to perform thrust vectoring? Are we talking u.f.o scale performance and rapid flight path transitions?

Possibly a good reason to research airplane portable nuclear reactor engines.

This post is still alive?
Heard a rumor that these planes are retrofitted with this technology to perform super cruise.

>How much extra lift and speed is produced?
not enough to make it worth it

lifters are only efficient at low speeds and in cases where you can separate the power source from the lifter so it really only needs to lift itself

I left research papers for you to admire the fact that this tech is actually used above mach 5. You said at low speeds? If you attached a generator to a turboshaft you have massive amounts of electricity. I'm not a scientist so could you use this like vtol?

I've seen tons of patents on aircraft using only this technology but they all look unrealistic to me. As far as I know this is only used to reduce drag and therefore improve fuel efficiency.
