I have been trying to Isolate tryptamine using heptane But my results are wildly inconsistent. Are there any organic chemist here that have any advice or could share some experiences?

I've worked with tryptamine, it seemed to dissolve very well in DMF and acetonitrile, could prob do some column stuff involving that. Also DCM and methanol

try a polar solvent. the primary and secondary amine groups on the tryptamine I would agree with other anon on acetonitrile and DMF

Short answer: dont bother. Its a major pain in the ass. Just buy it from china to save yourself the decarb and initial workup.
