Ive found that certain binaural tones seem to help block out my low frequency tinnitus, so ive been listening to some for the past few days. I dont know whether to believe that the tones can alter your wellbeing, but it has been kind of soothing, (maybe thats just the relief from my tinnitus though.) But I got curious and downloaded GNaural and made some tones based off of multiples of pi, and it seems to feel pretty good. Any thoughts on any of this? Maybe i could share it somehow see what you think of it?

Don't take that tone with me.

white noise has practical applications for drowning out competing noise

all these things that binural beats say they are good for
1)sleep
2)depression
3)anxiety

binural beats are a harsh monotone track, usually with varying length.
white noise, static and harsh noise wall can do the same thing.
they really are ment to be so jarring that you can't help but focus on them.
The result is that your brain remains so focused on a simple recording that it eases cognitive load, and by pretty much shoving this tone in your brain its the only thing it can really concentrate on.

many of the maladies that people claim binural beats treat come with a bit of anxiety (even getting anxious about getting anxious), or frustration.
Binural beats works becuase it keeps things simple so you're not really "thinking about thinking" all that much.
Used Harsh noise, binural beats, anything that just sounds like sound vomit to help with my social anxiety while waiting for the bus.

also to add:
there are notes at very low frequency that give people a sense of unease.
men kind differentiate between higher tones and women can differentiate between lower tones. THoery says thats it for mate selection.

Studies I think also show that people who listen to "harsh" music get fatigued more often.

I think there are certain chords and progressions that can inspire emotion pretty easily, or increase a persons level of arousal.

The tinnitus thing is just frequency masking. There's nothing special or mystical about it. I'm guessing the Pi thing just happens to get close enough to the frequency of your tinnitus to block it out.

Honestly it seems like a lot of that stuff is just new age nonsense.

Oh, no i meant that the sinewave tones in general seems to mask it when its at the right pitch, much better than white noise, which seems to be much too harsh and tiring after a while. The pi sinewaves were incidental, after experimenting with different notes im not implying anything mystical its just, interesting in general

Oh I see! Psychoacoustics is full of stuff like that. Honestly it's one of my favorite sections of psychology.
