Hardly educated, all them books I didn't read. They just sat there on my shelf, lookin' much smarter than me.

Gilbert Strang is the best math professor I have ever witnessed. You best read that book boi

Line by line. Don't progress to the next until you understand the previous.

Linear Algebra is difficult because you're learning the language. Jim Hefferon's Linear Algebra tries to apply it in different situations, but that gets really annoying really quickly, especially because the applications are not deep enough to provide much real value. It's just something you have to do. Like discrete mathematics. It's not fun, but it's "starting strength". When you're done, you'll be capable of thinking in ways that are beginning to look and feel professional.
