Dealing with imposter syndrome
Kinda bloggy, but I think other people have this problem too. I didn't even know imposter syndrome existed until someone mentioned it on this board, made me feel a lot better that it's an actual thing that other people experience too. Have any of you guys experienced it and/or know how to fix it? Every time I prove my competency I get it in my head that I faked it somehow.

I experience it constantly. I have a background in molecular biology and pathology, know a decent amount about AC circuit design, can program in C++ and to an extent in x86 assembly, know a decent amount about physics, and can generally figure out how to unfuck fucked up small engines. Yet I feel as though I will be outclassed even applying to operate a forklift at a store. That there is a massive pool of more qualified and simply more ideal candidates. I do not fit anywhere. But where are they? They clearly don't exist.
I know some of the reasons, for me. Can't (bring myself to) do much about it. It would only be worse if I was trying to get somewhere in one of the above fields.

>le imposter meme
It's literally a reddit meme. You think Feynman or Einstein had imposter syndrome?
>haha if everyone has it, it must be a figment of our imaginations, r-right guys?
>y-yeah...
Academia is seriously a scam. What you have is actually the knowledge that you don't know anything. Most other PhD students and professors can identify with you because they also don't know anything. When you "proved your competency" you knew you were mostly bullshitting, but the people around you are also incompetent (or are just nice to people they see struggling) so they either can't (or don't) call you out on it.

I have the opposite problem. How do I fix it?

Faking things is a skill. It will get you much further in life than autism
Constantly experiencing it. It might have to do with my anxiety though.
Since when did lack of self-confidence and self-doubt become a "syndrome"? Medicine is literally a meme

Imposter syndrome is not a medical diagnosis
