Racism is in our genes. Humanity would see aliens .... well, as aliens, and would exhibit their more racist ""unfriendly"" traits towards them. Best case scenario, they get a brand new racial slur. Worst case scenario is full on paranoia and McCarthyism leading to war or some conflict.
The latter is more likely, as being hateful and fearful of an attack is sometime a self fulfilling prophecy.
(e.g. North Korea. Their paranoid leader thinks people are out to assassinate him at every corner but America couldn't care less. But then he had to make nukes to ""defend"" himself and will eventually instigate the very conflict he's feared for so long.)
