I am interested in starting an undergraduate research project with a professor to increase my chances of getting into a grad program. I am very interested in algorithms and cryptography. Does /sci/ have any good recommendations on where to start? I am going into my junior year of my applied math degree, taking calculus 3 and differential equations next semester.

Or even Sophomore if we're being generous.
Maybe they're a Junior credits-wise but not really "junior standing" on the math track.
