So. Was it a fake?
Why did it suddenly disappeared?
>>9058146
Yes it's fake, and it didn't disappear, it's just old news to the dumb popsci media that popularized it in the first place.
prolly made the science men feel like suckers for testing it
Only the "inventor" and brainlets were sure it was real, but science men tested it anyway when they usually ignore shit like this.
Tell me /sci/. Will there ever be a non-meme warpdrive?
>>9058146
Consensus is still where it's always been.
Some thrust has been detected, with people arguing the source of it.
>>9058725
Also, it's almost no trust to be useful for anything.
So is this getting the "cold fussion" status, or what?
>>9058146
popsci cycles work this way
hype from press > proven fake > no acknowledgement of fake from press > obscurity > conspiracy theorists
>>9058146
>A macroscopic slab of metal and bolts which isn't supercooled suddenly displays qm effects.
Yeah no
>>9058812
It gave thrust
Then they turned it around and it still gave thrust in the same direction
>>9058146
A short lived meme / fad.
It's fake & don't work so the development stopped.
>>9059252
>popsci cycles work this way
>hype from press > proven fake > obscurity > conspiracy
the popsci hypes that are possible in theory & were not proven fake stay alive & are recycled forever by popsci & media.
Such as Alcubierre Drive, Space Elevator, Any Elon Musk project, String Theory, etc.
While things like Perpetual Motion Machine became conspiracies that only few redneck public school engineers believe.
It's still being tested. This takes a while.
Sorry if that's not exciting enough for your pop-sci brainlet attention span.
>>9059261
>It gave thrust
>Then they turned it around and it still gave thrust in the same direction
So it is INTELLIGENT!!
This is amazing... it some how has learned to always give thrust in one direction!
>>9058146
>suddenly
There were some not very rigorous but independent tests with zero results, and an explanation for the anomaly, for a long time. White and his "lab" gave up trying, probably convinced by that. It's not fake, just a poorly done research which was hyped by MSM. Serious people never took it seriously.
>>9059660
This -- not a fake, necessarily, it just doesn't work.
Claims that tiny bits of thrust were detected are made meaningless by this>>9059261
which shows pretty clearly "thrust" was not produced by the device, but was an artifact of the test setup.
Presumably it will soon be claimed that the oil companies or the Big Tobacco or the evil Gubmint is suppressing knowledge about it because it would make all our lives a utopia and they hate utopias.
